Your smile, thoughtfully planned
Porcelain veneers designed around you
A smile can feel more balanced through carefully considered changes to tooth shape, proportion and colour. Planning porcelain veneers starts with understanding what you would like to change, what you already like about your smile and what is appropriate for your teeth.
Shape, shade and individual detail
Dr Joseph Paino uses digital photographs and diagnostic models to help plan personalised porcelain veneers. Tooth length, edges, spacing and shade are considered together with your smile. Bring examples of the appearance you prefer: your input helps explain the details that matter to you.
Enhance Dental uses Australian-made ceramic veneers. The design is tailored to your individual treatment plan, with discussion of a subtle change or a more noticeable difference in appearance.
A healthy foundation comes first
Porcelain veneers may be considered for selected chipped, worn, discoloured or unevenly shaped teeth. Suitability depends on the condition of each tooth, your gums and how your teeth meet. Grinding, existing restorations and your dental history also need consideration.
Any active disease needs attention before elective treatment. Dr Paino will explain suitable alternatives, likely preparation, limitations and ongoing care so that your decision considers both appearance and oral health.
Understand your options
Porcelain veneers and other ways to improve your smile
Your treatment can involve one approach or a carefully planned combination. This overview is a starting point for discussion; the right choice depends on an examination, your priorities and the changes you want to make.
| Treatment | Main purpose | Key consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Porcelain veneers | Custom ceramic coverings to change the visible shape or colour of selected teeth. | Preparation may be irreversible. Laboratory work, future maintenance and possible replacement need consideration. |
| Resin veneers or bonding | Tooth-coloured material shaped directly onto teeth. | Often involves fewer visits and can be repaired, but may need more polishing or maintenance. |
| Teeth whitening | Lightens the colour of natural teeth. | Does not change tooth shape or lighten existing porcelain veneers, crowns or fillings. |
| Invisalign clear aligners | Gradually changes tooth position for suitable alignment and bite concerns. | Requires prescribed wear, progress reviews and retainers after treatment. |
| Explore Porcelain Crowns | Covers more of a tooth where its remaining structure requires a different restoration. | The condition of the tooth guides the choice between a crown and a veneer. |
A clear treatment journey
Your porcelain veneers, step by step
You should understand the proposed treatment before deciding to proceed. The stages below outline a typical journey; additional dental care or planning can change the sequence and timing.
Discuss your goals
Start with a free cosmetic consultation to discuss your concerns, explore options and ask about costs and timing. Photos help the discussion. Further assessment or records may be needed before a definitive recommendation for porcelain veneers.
Agree on an individual plan
Dr Paino considers your oral health, bite, preferred shade and proposed tooth shapes. Review the recommended treatment, alternatives, preparation, fees and expected appointments. Digital photographs and diagnostic models support the planning of your porcelain veneers.
Prepare and create
Once you choose to proceed, the agreed preparation and records guide the fabrication of your porcelain veneers. Temporary restorations may be used where required. Your dentist will explain care instructions for this stage.
Fit, review and maintain
Your porcelain veneers are assessed for fit, shade and appearance before bonding. Your bite is checked and follow-up care discussed. Preparation and fitting appointments are commonly two to three weeks apart; the complete treatment plan may involve additional visits.
Clarity before commitment
Porcelain veneers cost and treatment planning
The cost of porcelain veneers depends on the work your individual smile needs. A per-tooth figure alone cannot show the full cost of assessment, any preliminary care and the agreed treatment. Your plan should make those details clear before treatment begins.
Number and complexity
The teeth involved, their existing condition and the proposed changes influence the design and treatment required.
Planning and preparation
Assessment, diagnostic records and any preliminary treatment need to be considered alongside fabrication and fitting.
Ongoing care
Discuss reviews, maintenance and any recommended protective appliance when considering the longer-term commitment.

Care beyond fitting day
Looking after your porcelain veneers
Porcelain veneers need ongoing care, and the natural teeth underneath remain susceptible to decay. Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, clean between your teeth daily and attend the reviews recommended for you. Report discomfort, changes to your bite or damage promptly.
Our 7-year guarantee, with clear conditions
Eligible porcelain veneers commenced and completed at Enhance Dental are covered by our repair or replacement policy, subject to its terms. Conditions include at least twice-yearly maintenance at Enhance Dental, recommended X-rays, home care and wearing any prescribed protective appliance.
The policy has exclusions, including new decay, biological problems and trauma. It does not promise that teeth or restorations cannot develop problems. Read the full 7-year guarantee and conditions and ask how they apply to your treatment.
Clear answers before you decide
Your porcelain veneers questions, answered
Explore the practical details of treatment, costs and ongoing care. Your consultation is the place to discuss how this information applies to your own teeth and goals.
What are porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin, individually made ceramic coverings bonded to the visible surfaces of selected teeth. They can change aspects of colour, shape and proportion while using the natural tooth underneath as their foundation. Each veneer is planned for the tooth it will cover and the surrounding smile. At Enhance Dental, the suitability of that approach is discussed before treatment. For independent background, read the Australian Dental Association’s guide to crowns, bridges and veneers.
What concerns can porcelain veneers address?
Porcelain veneers may be considered for concerns such as selected chips, uneven tooth shapes, small gaps or discolouration that has not responded as hoped to whitening. The reason for the concern matters: tooth wear, staining and changes in alignment can have different causes and need different approaches. Bring the details of what you would like to change to your consultation. Dr Paino can assess those concerns and explain whether veneers, another treatment, a combination of treatments or monitoring would be appropriate.
How do I know whether I am suitable for veneers?
Suitability for porcelain veneers depends on more than the appearance of your front teeth. Your dentist assesses the teeth and gums, available enamel, existing restorations and the way your teeth meet. Decay or gum disease may need treatment first. Grinding, clenching or a difficult bite can affect the options. A consultation helps identify what needs further assessment and gives you an opportunity to explain your priorities. A photograph or online description alone cannot establish whether veneers are the right choice for you.
How do porcelain veneers compare with resin veneers?
Porcelain veneers are made in a dental laboratory and bonded to the teeth. Resin veneers use composite material shaped directly by the dentist. Composite can often be repaired more easily and may involve fewer appointments, while porcelain generally offers greater resistance to staining and wear. Costs, preparation and maintenance differ between the two approaches. Your priorities and the condition of each tooth help guide the choice. We can discuss both options and the practical trade-offs, rather than assuming the same material suits every patient.
Could whitening, Invisalign or crowns be more appropriate?
Yes. Whitening may be appropriate when the main concern is the colour of natural teeth. Invisalign and other orthodontic treatments move teeth and address alignment or bite concerns. A crown covers more of a tooth and may be considered when the tooth needs structural support. Porcelain veneers mainly change the visible surface. Your plan may involve one option, a combination or no treatment. Whitening does not lighten existing porcelain, so any intended whitening should be discussed before choosing the shade of new restorations.
Can porcelain veneers look natural?
A natural appearance is a planning goal that can be discussed from your first visit. The shade, shape, length and proportions of porcelain veneers are considered alongside your surrounding teeth and the appearance you prefer. You do not have to choose the whitest available shade. Photographs, models and discussion can help communicate your preferences and the limits of what is achievable. Dr Paino will explain the planning options suitable for your case, and you can raise concerns about the proposed appearance before committing to treatment.
Will my teeth need preparation, and is it reversible?
The amount of preparation for porcelain veneers depends on tooth position, shape, existing restorations and the proposed changes. Some cases need relatively little preparation; others require more space for the ceramic. If enamel is removed, that change is permanent. Veneers should therefore be considered a continuing commitment to dental care, rather than something you can simply remove and return to the original teeth. Ask Dr Paino to explain the proposed preparation for each tooth, alternatives and any likely future treatment before you decide.
How many veneers would I need?
There is no standard number of porcelain veneers that is right for everyone. The decision depends on which teeth concern you, how much tooth shows when you smile, the condition of those teeth and how any changes will sit beside untreated teeth. A single tooth or several teeth may be considered. At your consultation, explain your priorities and budget so the options can be discussed clearly. The proposed number should follow the assessment and treatment goals, rather than a fixed package or a photograph of someone else.
What happens during treatment, and how long does it take?
After assessment and planning, treatment involves preparing the selected teeth where needed, taking records and having the porcelain veneers made in a laboratory. They are checked for fit and appearance before bonding, followed by a bite check and review. Enhance Dental’s porcelain veneers are Australian made. For suitable straightforward cases, preparation and fitting are often two to three weeks apart. Preliminary dental care or further adjustments can extend the schedule. Your exact appointments and expected timing will be discussed as part of your individual plan.
What affects the cost of porcelain veneers?
The cost of porcelain veneers depends on the number of teeth treated, the work needed to prepare them, laboratory requirements and any other care included in your plan. A meaningful estimate starts with an assessment of your teeth and the changes you are considering. At your consultation, ask what the proposed fees include and whether records, preliminary treatment, protective appliances or reviews are additional. It is also sensible to discuss the cost of future maintenance or replacement, so you can consider the longer-term commitment alongside the initial treatment.
What is included in the free cosmetic consultation?
The free introductory cosmetic consultation is an opportunity to discuss your smile goals with Dr Joseph Paino and explore possible options, costs and timing. Photographs may help that discussion, and scans or further records may be recommended when appropriate. The consultation does not commit you to porcelain veneers or another treatment. Any further assessment, records or treatment that may involve a fee should be clarified before proceeding. You are welcome to bring questions about appearance, preparation, alternatives and the practical steps involved in making an informed decision.
Can treatment cause discomfort or sensitivity?
Your experience depends on the condition of your teeth and the preparation involved. Local anaesthetic may be used where appropriate, and temporary sensitivity or gum tenderness can occur after dental treatment. Tell us about previous sensitivity, dental anxiety or difficulty becoming numb so these concerns can be considered in your plan. If you develop persistent pain, worsening symptoms or a bite that feels uneven after porcelain veneers are fitted, contact the practice for advice and assessment rather than assuming it will settle by itself.
What are the risks and limitations?
Porcelain veneers can chip, crack or become loose, and the supporting teeth can still develop decay or other problems. Preparation may be irreversible, sensitivity can occur, and future repairs or replacement may be necessary. The proposed appearance also needs realistic discussion: another patient’s result cannot predict your outcome. Your personal risks depend on your teeth, gums, bite and health history. Dr Paino will explain the relevant benefits, limitations, alternatives and likely maintenance requirements as part of treatment planning so you can decide whether to proceed.
How long do porcelain veneers last?
Porcelain veneers can remain in service for many years, but there is no single lifespan that can be promised for every patient or tooth. Longevity is influenced by the underlying teeth and gums, the bite, grinding, home care and regular maintenance. A veneer may eventually need repair or replacement even if it has served well. Ask about the likely outlook for your own case and the reasons future work might be needed. Our seven-year guarantee has specific conditions and is separate from a prediction of lifespan.
What happens if a veneer chips or comes loose?
Contact Enhance Dental so the veneer and supporting tooth can be assessed. Depending on the damage and its cause, the options may include smoothing, repair, rebonding or replacement; the same solution is not suitable in every situation. Avoid trying to glue a loose veneer back yourself. If you have the veneer or a broken fragment, keep it safely and bring it to the appointment. We will explain the findings, recommended next step and whether the circumstances fall within the applicable guarantee conditions.
How should I care for veneers, especially if I grind my teeth?
Continue brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth and attending the reviews recommended for you. Avoid using teeth to open packaging or biting hard objects. Tell your dentist if you clench or grind, as this can affect both planning and ongoing protection; a suitable appliance may be recommended. Follow the instructions for any prescribed appliance and bring it to maintenance visits. Porcelain veneers do not remove the need to care for the natural teeth and gums, and the guarantee includes ongoing maintenance requirements.
What does the seven-year guarantee cover?
Eligible porcelain veneers commenced and completed at Enhance Dental are included in our seven-year repair or replacement guarantee, subject to the full policy. Conditions include maintenance visits, recommended X-rays, home care and use of any prescribed protective appliance. Exclusions apply, including specified biological problems, decay, trauma and other circumstances; resin veneers are not covered. The policy is a commitment with defined conditions, rather than a promise that every veneer or supporting tooth will remain unchanged. Please read our seven-year guarantee terms and discuss how they apply to your treatment.
