What can cause a dental emergency?
There are numerous examples of dental emergencies from falling over, to a deep cavity in a tooth.
Other dental emergencies could be due to chipping or breaking a tooth on a bottle or a utensil, however sometimes a tooth will seem fine and it only takes a soft piece of food for it to develop. This is usually due to a hidden problem like hidden decay or a slight fracture line in a tooth that propagates. This is similar to a fracture in a car windscreen that develops further.
Sometimes a facial swelling can occur without pain, however this should not be ignored or just treated with antibiotics as it could turn out to be a serious condition and even lead to septicemia.
